Bu De Bu Ai Version (Back dorm boys and Wilber Pan)

I know its a little late to post something about the Back Dorm Boys but I'm posting anyway. It has been about 4 years since I first saw their video on youtube. We were sulking around a friends house when she showed to us their version of Backstreet Boys' I Want it That Way. And from then on our circle of friends loved this boys!!

The Back dorm boys, as what they are often called, are two Chinese boys who made their own versions of popular music videos. They recorded it on their dorm room and later on posted the videos on the internet. They became very popular that they were offered to do a commercial for Pepsi. They did a version of As Long As You Love Me (BSB) and  Superstar (S.H.E) to name a few. One of my favorite videos that they did was their own version of Wilber Pan's Bu De Bu Ai. I've loved Wilber Pan since then. I'm posting their version of Bu De Bu Ai as well as Wilber Pan's version! Happy watching!!

Wang Lee Hom - Hua Tian Cuo

Hello Addicts!

One of the my favorite Chinese pop songs is Hua Tian Cuo by four-time Golden Melody Award-winning Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter and actor, Wang Lee Hom. 

What I like most about the song is the variety of sounds used to create the music. It is a mixture of the old with the new, traditional with modern, eastern with western cultures. Wang Lee Hom actually coined the term "chinked-out" music to describe his music, which is heavily influenced by traditional Chinese music (thus the interesting mix of sounds in most of his songs).

Hello, addicts!

These past months, I have been enjoying listening to Chinese "popular" songs, mostly by Jay Chou, Wang Lee Hong, and JJ Lin. One of my favorites is Jay Chou's 2008 song, Fragrance of Rice (Dao Xiang). Besides having a really pleasant melody, it has a meaningful message (Jay Chou wrote the lyrics himself) as well.
